Jimmy Barnes is a bit of everything for everyone. A rhythm and blues man, soul man, front man, father, brother, son, grandfather, friend, hero. But to his army of fans, he will always be a rock singer.

Indeed, the most recognizable rock singer this country has produced. With his suit neatly packed away, 'Barnesy' has slipped back into some denim and a tee with no alterations required. He's stomping around like a caged warrior and letting rip with a new album titled Rage And Ruin, a... Read more

COLD CHISEL ONE NIGHT STAND IN ‘THE GONG’

After much speculation, Cold Chisel announced today that they will play a one-off show at the Shellharbour Workers Club on Thursday September 30. This unique club show will be a curtain raiser to their headlining role at this year's Deniliquin Ute Muster on Saturday October 2.

Last year, the legendary Australian five piece did two guerrilla-style appearances at the tiny Clovelly Bowling Club in Sydney and at Central Oval in Port Augusta, South Australia. Those shows were secret warm-ups for their gig at Homebush Olympic Stadium that saw over 50,000 fans travel from all over the country to experience the rare magic of Cold Chisel live. Ever since announcing the band's performance at the Deni Muster their website has been inundated by fans asking whether they'd do the same again in 2010.

So this time around the band has decided to announce a one night stand in Wollongong instead of doing covert shows. "We want to get down and dirty in a jam-packed club gig before we take the main stage at Deniliquin," said guitarist Ian Moss. "I can't wait. We've always played great shows c n after all these years."

Of course the 1500 capacity Shellharbour Workers Club will be the most intimate venue to host an official Chisel gig in decades but fans can still expect a full length set of Cold Chisel classics and maybe even a new song or two. This band is renowned for never doing things by halves.

As Jimmy Barnes has said: "Cold Chisel is the best band I have ever played with. Whenever the five of us get together sparks fly and something beautiful happens."

Cold Chisel remains one of the highest selling and most revered Australian artists of all time. With sales of over 5 million albums and DVDs, their legend has only grown over the years, driven by a catalogue of classic songs like Cheap Wine, Khe Sanh, You Got Nothin' I Want, My Baby, Flame Trees and Forever Now that have become part of the fabric of Australian life.

The chance to get upfront and personal in a club environment like this is a rarity so tickets for the show are expected to go in a flash.

Meanwhile, ticket sales for the Deniliquin Ute Muster are already at record levels and are closing in on a sellout. With three weeks still to go until that big gig organisers have confirmed that Cold Chisel has already smashed the crowd record set by Powderfinger last year.
